What I Wouldn’t Give for a Porterhouse Steak: FDDA

At Ruth’s Chris Steak House in Lahaina, Hawaii.

Fandango’s Dog Days of August theme is “your favorite food.” Is it an appetizer? An entree? A dessert? A snack? What is your favorite thing to eat? Or maybe it’s food for thought, for the soul, for the mind? Share a story, a poem, a photo, a drawing, some music, or whatever you wish to share about your favorite food.

The best thing that I ever ate was a Porterhouse steak from Ruth’s Chris Steak House. It arrived at the table as big as a small roast! It was juicy, cooked medium well, but practically melting in your mouth. I ate steak for the next three days, it was just that huge.

It tasted as if it had been cooked in butter, and it was seared to perfection. I’ve never had anything so good before it or after! When we visited Hawaii in 2013, I went to Ruth’s Chris Steak House in Lahaina, but because we were going home the next day, I couldn’t justify paying the money and then having to throw most of it away.

It is my dream to have the porterhouse again, but I need to take a real meat lover with me. The porterhouse for two is $105 just for the steak, as the sides (which are good, too) are extra! But, believe me, it is worth every cent!
