I tried to follow in my Grandma’s footsteps,
To make it easier to survive the pain in this life.
But, I came to the place where her journey stopped,
Before I’d encountered my own struggles and strife.
I learned that I was never meant to walk in her steps,
But only to use them as a form of comforting guide.
On this journey, we make our own footsteps in the sand,
For from difficult moments and troubles we cannot hide.
Although our journeys can be hard and often lonely,
There are times when the only way to proceed is alone.
Then, when we look back and see how far we have come,
We can believe that our footsteps will at last lead us home.
