All of My Children are 50 and Older: Do I Have to Start Acting My Age?

I never learned to ride a bicycle,

And it didn’t much matter all this time.

But I think I want to try it now,

Seeing cyclists who are past their prime.

I want to learn to ride a recumbent bike,

The kind that is long and low to the ground.

It seems to me that if you fall off of it,

There’s less injury when you’re downed.

While my husband thinks it’s a great idea,

Because then we could ride happlily together,

My children want me to act my age,

Believing that walking is much better.

The last child reached age 50 a few days ago,

So I know that I’m not as young as I used to be.

But, as I am still on this side of the grave,

I’ll keep doing what’s seems right for me.

The Daily Spur prompt is Bicycle. I plan to look into it, and hope my back loves it. The older cyclists look so relaxed and cool!
