Life Lessons for the Journey Ahead

Douglas at The Eiffel Tower, Paris, France, May 27, 2023

Lesson One:  Do not allow others to define who you are or what you can be or accomplish. Learn to define yourself as valuable and of great worth.

Lesson Two: A little insanity in our lives is not a bad thing. Insanity refers to the times in life when our goals and choices lead others to ask, “Are you crazy!?”  When others say that your dreams are insane, then say, “If this is insanity, I hope I am never sane again.”

Lesson Three: Do not let your fears keep you from the mountaintop moments in your life. Mountaintop moments refer to the most beautiful and precious moments in life.

Lesson Four: Soar like eagles, but don’t be afraid if you are blown off course because some of the best lessons of your life will occur in unexpected places. Sometimes, you will arrive where you were meant to be without even knowing that the destination is always where God is leading you.

Lesson Five: Always leave people wanting more of you and not less of you.  Leave any place or job with people celebrating the time you were there and not celebrating that you are leaving!

Lesson Six: Have a passion for your job or occupation, and whatever you do, let it profit others as much or more than it profits you.

All these lessons are about love: love for yourself and others, and, for me, thanks to God, my Creator, and Jesus Christ, my Savior, for loving me so much that I have come so far on my journey to be where I am today.
