Hosea 2:14-15 “Therefore I am now going to allure her; I will lead her into the wilderness and speak tenderly to her. 15 There I will give her back her vineyards, and will make the Valley of Achor a door of hope. There she will respond as in the days of her youth, as in the day she came up out of Egypt.
Life gets so busy that we often can’t find joy in our lives. We rise from our beds already worried about all of the things we have to do that day. We forget we felt such joy when we prayed and read our Bibles in the early morning hours. Those moments reminded us that the Lord was with us and would fight any battles.
The Lord has been good to me, and I often put everything before Him. Thankfully, even though we forget to spend time in His presence, something we need every day, He never forgets us, for His love is an unfailing and everlasting love. Even though the Israelites had forgotten the Lord and was worshiping other gods, He reminds them through the prophet Hosea that He will still pursue them in ways that they will respond with the joy and commitment they showed when He rescued them from slavery in Egypt. No one can beat the love of the Lord for His people!
It’s like in marriage when we start to take our spouses for granted, forgetting to speak tenderly to them and remind them of our commitment and love for them. Time passes and we stop saying thank you and please, as if we are entitled to their time and gifts of love. Today, let us return finding time to spend in the presence of the Lord, listening as He talks tenderly to us through His word and in prayer. Revive the joy!
Amen.

I Come to understand more and more every single year of my Christianity that keeping this relationship alive is an extremely intentional act. That intention is both on God’s side and my side. God is always faithful in his intention. I am becoming more faithful. In that intention, the longer I live with Him.
