Our bodies are not simply machines.
They need time to relax and rest.
But in our fear of poverty and missing out,
We turn our work into a quest.
Our human species trades having more stuff
Over having fun and enjoying some free time.
We gripe about the long hours,
And yet, up the ladder we continue to climb.
But bodies will surely retaliate someday,
As they struggle for solitude and peace.
Illness may grip us until we get the gist:
Rest, O weary one, and let your working cease.

Learning to rest is hard. I have always been a rest when your dead person. Now I am learning that not resting will get me dead faster.

I learned it the hard way. Being put in the hospital is really good at getting your attention.
