Flower of the Day Challenge

Another bloom from the beauties at the Huerto del Cura Gardens in Elche, Spain. I loved this flower because it reminded me of a hummingbird hovering as it partakes of the nectar from a flower.  I forgot to get the names of the flowers, and just took pictures as my heart was touched by them.... Never Forget How Quickly They Grow Up

As I looked around the room at my grandchildren holding their children, I felt as though I had time-traveled into the future, not quite able to come to grips with the fact that the ones whom I used to change their diapers and give good-night kisses were already parents. It didn't seem possible that the... Continue Reading →

I am not a photographer, but I wanted to participate in this challenge, to present what happiness means to me. Happiness means being with family, especially new members like great-grandchildren. Below are four generations together on my birthday. Happiness is traveling the world with my husband, an adventurer if ever there was one. Thank God... Continue Reading →

Sitting at the window, looking out on the snowy forest behind her house, Judith sighed deeply, feeling the coldness in her heart and soul.  Tears flowed down her face and tumbled from her chin unto her bed. She felt as though no one in the world cared for her, not one living soul. Her parents... Continue Reading →

Losing the Art of Listening

Last weekend was special because I saw some of my granddaughters whom I had not seen in a while, due to their family and work commitments whenever Douglas and I are in Atlanta. While sitting down to talk, I found myself on my birthday trying to be heard among a group of twenty-somethings and thirty-somethings... Continue Reading →

A Gift for Big Tony: Saturday Weekly Challenge

He enters the ring every Wednesday night, whether he is feeling like it or not. The kiddies especially are looking for "Big Tony" to put up a good "fight," and he is paid to see that they are fully entertained. I cringe when I see him heading for the ring, sending up prayers of God's... Continue Reading →

Nothing Squeaks But Me: The Friday Fictioneer

Jeffrey keeps a horde of oil cans at the ready, to ensure that there is nothing squeaking in his home. He is meticulous about grabbing an oil can at the first pip out of any of the mechanical gadgets in his home. Doors swing quietly on their hinges, and not one sound is heard when... In the Huerta del Cura Jardin Artistico Nacional in Elche, Spain, there is a huge number of Cacti from Mexico, and they are the strangest looking cacti I ever saw. But, they are so beautiful and come in such variety. Posted for Cees Flower of the Day Challenge.
