Participating in the Share Your World Challenge by Sparks from a Combustible Mind for this week.

QUESTIONS:

If you didn’t have to sleep, what would you do with the extra time?

I would read all night long. I have loved reading since I was in the fifth grade. We had to choose a book from the school library and write a report. I chose The Mystery of the Tarnished Trophy. I got hooked on mysteries and thrillers, and I have over 250 books to be read in my Kindle. With only about 3-4 hours a day for reading, I would need at least another twenty years to live, especially as I add new ones every day.

What job would you be terrible at?

A cook, whether a short-order cook (do we still have those?) or a chef. I can barely heat water. God blessed me with a man who loves to cook and is good at it. When my children were young, it was frozen everything, as I also worked. Today, my two daughters are caterers, making all their food from scratch, nary a frozen meat in sight. I just wished that I had known that they were natural-born cooks when they were teenagers.

When was the last time you climbed a tree?

I don’t know if I have ever climbed a tree. My mother did not let me hardly go outside. I did not learn to skate, swim, or ride a bike, so I am pretty sure I got nowhere near a tree. I was age 50 before I found the courage to drive.

Do you count your steps?

I do! My goal is 10500 steps a day. I meet my goal about four days out of seven. I get upset when I go walking and forget my phone. All that walking and nothing to show for it on my report. But, thankfully the physical benefits kick in whether counted or not.

Bonus question (just because it’s really silly)   What’s the dumbest way you’ve injured yourself?

We were at Disney World in Florida, and I wanted to experience the Back to the Future ride. There was a sign that said that if you have heart trouble or a bad back, then you shouldn’t go on the ride, which I had both. I did not believe it could be that bad, and after all the waiting, I went. There was so much jerking that I knew that my vacation was over. Trying to get on an airplane when you cannot stand straight is not a good thing. Self-inflicted pain is the worst.
