John 10:28-30 I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all[a]; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. 30 I and the Father are one.”
I remember the first date with my husband. As an interracial couple, we caught the eyes of nearly everyone we passed. I felt particularly uncomfortable with the way a group of men looked at us, and we found ourselves moving fast through the parking lot to our car. He grabbed my hand, and the moment my small hand slipped into his much bigger one (I called his hands “paws”), I felt safe and that all would be well. He would not let anyone hurt me.
I am reminded this morning of hands even bigger than my husband’s, ones that he slips his into when trials come our way. We know that the hands that hold us in difficult times will not let go. The Lord’s hands are safe, secure, and assured. He will not let anyone snatch us out of His hands, keeping us firmly in His tremendous and unfailing love.
But we can, and often do, step out of His hands when we think that we can solve our problems alone, or when the hurts of the world cause us to withdraw from His presence. Yet, the Lord welcomes us back with open arms, for His strong right arm is ever available. Today, whatever the situation, put your hands in the hands of the Man from Galilee. No one and nothing can take you out of His loving grip.
