Pathways remind me of choices: which way to go to maximize a day's opportunities for reflection and fun? Pathways rarely used lead to surprising places and make it possible to experience views and create memories that few others have witnessed. Villajoisa, Spain: Roman ruins: Pathway to the past. Portimao, Portugal! Step Carefully! Elche, Spain: Which... Continue Reading →
Flower of the Day December 5
These flowers were in the Municipal Park in Elche, Spain. They looked like mums, but may not be. They look as though God himself painted them that vibrant yellow that soothes our souls. Thank you, God, for the color yellow! What a gift! Posted for Cee's Photography's Flower of the Day December 5, 2018
Stumped: Weekly Prompts Photo Challenge Mysterious
This statue in Elche, Spain left Douglas and me stumped. There was no plaque explaining what it symbolizes. It was located in the middle of an area near the town's municipal offices. I was fascinated by it, mainly because the figures don't actually seem to be doing anything that I recognize. Of course, it represents... Continue Reading →
Thursday Doors Challenge a Day Late
I saw so many beautiful doors on apartments and  churches while traveling in Spain, and I remembered the door challenge. Here are a few of them. There were studded doors. There were a garage door that was simply beautiful. I couldn't speak the language but I knew not to park there.... Continue Reading →
Pull Up A Seat Challenge Week 13
I lost my heart in beautiful Elche, Spain, also known as Eli, Spain, for two languages are spoken there: Spanish and Valencian. Unfortunately, I could not speak either. Blue Flag Churches
When we returned to the middle of Tennessee in the middle of the U.S., we missed staying on the beach in Portugal. Walking on the beach walk each day, removing our shoes and walking through the surf, and enjoying a place where many people got out and walked were wonderful. We wanted more, but this... In Travel Mode: Ahing and Oohing
Douglas and I are in lovely Alicante, Spain, and after we awakened this morning, the first thing seen was the Mediterranean Sea. My heart did a happy dance. We arrived last night at nearly midnight, having gotten lost leaving the Alicante Airport in our rental car. We could not fathom how we got lost, but... Continue Reading →
A Most Authentic Tourist
We are in Seville, Spain! We arrived here yesterday and will leave tomorrow, going back to our Portugal apartment. Douglas is like a kid in a candy store, with his tourist maps and phone apps, finding all the places he wants to see. Today, we walked for nearly seven hours (I earned nearly 16,000 steps!),... Two Parallel Cultures.
We have jaunted over to Spain for a few days. Unfortunately, we seem to have come during Seville’s busiest party week, and we don’t do that kind of party. I tend to think of the two, Portugal and Spain, as nearly identical. They have been connected at different times and developed in parallel ways.... Continue Reading →
